Position Summary:

The General Accountant is responsible for performing routine accounting activities for this healthcare services organization.  This position reports to the Sr. Director of Accounting and must be a self-starter and an independent, detail-oriented team member.  This employee ensures that the accounting work is performed in a timely and efficient manner; financial reporting is accurate and complete using consistent methodologies in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and state specific Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP), as applicable; required filings are made accurately and within prescribed deadlines; and other management reporting is complete and delivered on time.

General Duties/Responsibilities (May include but are not limited to):

  • Prepare daily bank reconciliations for various accounts such as claims, payroll and main checking account.
  • Assist with updating the daily cashbook.
  • Prepare daily / weekly check deposit slips.
  • Responsible for maintaining cash receipts excel log and apply them to miscellaneous receivables.
  • Responsible for tracking stale dated checks.
  • Responsible for reviewing of employee expense reports in accordance with Company guidelines (e.g. – receipt matching, reasonableness).
  • Prepare assigned balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Preparation and/or review of journal entries.
  • Reconciliation and posting of Concur Expense reporting transactions.
  • Work with external auditors in gathering proper documentation of quarterly and annual audit request.
  • Processing of expense reports when assistance is needed (volume/inventory driven)
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by Accounting Management.

Minimum Requirements:

1.       Minimum Experience:

a.       Minimum 1-3 years general accounting experience preferred.

2.       Education/Licensure:

a.       Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business, with knowledge of accounting and / or bookkeeping.

3.       Other:

a.       Intermediate proficiency in Excel.

b.       Proficiency in Microsoft Word.

c.       Experience with systems for fixed assets, accounts payable, expense reporting and general ledger accounting systems such as Microsoft Dynamics, Lawson Infor, Peoplesoft, Oracle, or SAP, preferred but not required. 

d.       Willingness and capability to learn new things quickly.

e.       Technology and automated solutions oriented.
